MOhammed Azharuddin was sworn-in by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan in the presence of CM Revanth Reddy. Jubilee Hills bypoll is set to take place on November 11
Hyderabad: Former cricketer and Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin has been sworn-in as a minister into Telangana cabinet by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan on Friday, October 31.
He was sworn-in in the presence of Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and other senior ministers.
The induction of Mohammed Azharuddin into the cabinet comes less than two weeks before the Jubilee Hills bypoll. He was the Congress candidate for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in 2023 Assembly elections.
BJP has alleged that the offer of a ministry to Azharuddin is a way to woo voters of a section of the voters in the upcoming election.
‘Utter violation of MCC’:
"The proposal at this stage is an utter violation of Model Code of Conduct, even though MCC is not applicable to the entire city of Hyderabad, the announcement by CM Revanth Reddy would adversely affect the bye-election,” a BJP complaint to the Election Commission read.
