Hyderabad Police reiterate strict drunk driving checks on New Year:
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar warned that the police will not overlook it if citizens drive while being drunk.
In a post on social media platform X, he said, "Special drunken driving checks will be conducted tonight in 120 areas of the city. If caught drunk, we will impose heavy fines, along with vehicle seizure, jail and cancellation of driving license.”
Those who have consumed alcohol should not drive and instead opt for cabs or drivers. He urged people to celebrate it safely with family and friends.
Warning to auto, cab drivers:
On New Year’s Eve and at midnight, any refusal by cab or auto drivers to accept rides, or any demand for fares higher than the booked amount, will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against violators under Section 178(3)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, CP VC Sajjanar said.
