Learjet 45 XR aircraft crash: Crew member Pinky Mali loved being in the skies, wanted to support students

New Delhi: Pinky Mali was a flight attendant who was on the ill fated Learjet 45 XR aircraft, which crashed in Maharashtra's Baramati on Wednesday. The young flight crew died, along with 4 others, including Maharashtra's Deputy CM Ajit Pawar in the airplane crash. Now her family is trying to come to terms with the loss.

Following the crash, her family claimed that Mali had told them about the aircraft facing issues during landing. They claimed that the reference regarding the issues with landing were made in passing. This is however now part of the probe in the matter.

Just a day before the crash, Mali informed her family that she would be on the same chartered flight as Pawar. She said that after landing in Baramati, she would head to Nanded. Her father said, "Yesterday she told us about her schedule. Everything was normal." He however said that their world fell apart on Wednesday morning, when the news of the crash flashed on television.

Mumbai Mirror quoted her brother as saying that she was a fearless girl, but once she said that chartered flights sometimes faced problems while landing. But he claimed that this remark was made just in passing and she did not display any fear of flying.

Deeply committed to profession

According to her family, Mali was deeply committed to her profession. Initially she worked with an international airline and then with Akasa Air. Later however an accident derailed her career. But, they said, she was not the one to easily give up.

After her accident she once again began her training and about a year back, joined VSR Venture. They said that she was proud to be back in the skies.

Her family claimed that Mali was passionate about her profession and she also wanted to support aspiring students who wanted to enter the aviation and hospitality sectors. Her brother, Karan Mali said that his sister knew that training courses were extremely expensive and therefore she wanted to financially support aspiring students, once she was herself stable in her career.

The flight that crashed in Baramati, the Learjet 45 XR, was operated by a Delhi-based company, VSR Ventures. Following the death of the Deputy CM (Pawar), a high-level probe has been launched in the aircrash.
