Mumbai: Leopard spotted inside Bhayander building sparks fear and panic; 3 injured

A leopard entered a residential building in Thane's ​​Bhayander East. It injured 3 people and was hiding inside a flat, said reports. The police, fire brigade and the local municipal corporation officials are trying to keep the animal trapped inside the building. The residents of the flat in which the animal took shelter have already been rescued, said an official.

New Delhi: A leopard was spotted in the Talav Road area of ​​Bhayander East, adjacent to Mumbai on Friday. The animal's entry into a residential area has caused panic among the people of the area. So far 3 people have been injured in attacks by the animal.

Efforts on to trap animal: Fire brigade

The animal is said to be currently inside the Parijat Building in the area. The residents of the society and the fire brigade officials are trying to trap it inside the building itself. Reports claimed that the animal entered a flat in the residential society and injured a girl there.

The fire brigade managed to rescue the injured girl. Efforts are now on to keep the animal inside the building itself, so that it can be easily captured, said an official. Visuals from the area showed police personnel, residents and fire brigade officials, along with the municipal corporation personnel, rescuing the injured people.

Meanwhile, the Thane Territorial Forest Department has sent a team to the spot to safely rescue the animal. This was confirmed by Deputy Conservator of Forests Sachin Repal, to Midday. Apart from forest officials, members of NGO SARRP are also at the spot to assist officials in rescuing the animal.

Repal urged locals to stay away from the building and avoid provoking the animal. He said that if provoked the animal might attack more people in the area.
