Travel time reduced: Navi Mumbai International Airport to start commercial operations on Dec 25

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has implemented this project. On Tuesday, it said in a release that the airport will have 30 Air Traffic Movements on the day it starts operations, that is, December 25.

New Delhi: The greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), after decades of planning, is going to start commercial operations from December 25. As a result, the travel time will be reduced. Also, it will provide a huge boost to tourism and attract large-scale investments in the region.

The airport has a terminal inspired by the shape of a lotus, and the entire structure shows India's cultural ethos with sustainability mixed with innovation, according to the release by CIDCO. It will boost economic growth in the region and will benefit residents of Navi Mumbai and other places like Pune, Thane, Panvel, Konkan, and Raigad. It will ensure strategic multimodal connectivity, and flights of major carriers will arrive and depart during the first day of operation.
