New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education has released the CBSE board practical exams and internal assessments dates for Classes 10, 12 in winter-bound schools. As per the CBSE 10th, 12th practicals 2026 schedule for winter-bound schools, the exam will be conducted from November 6 to December 6. The schools will remain closed in January 2026. The internal exams for all other schools will be conducted from January 1, 2026.
The practical exams, project and internal assessment for the 2025-26 academic session for Class 10 and Class 12 for winter-bound schools will be from November 6 to December 6, 2025.
CBSE stated, 'As per provisions of Examination Bye-Laws/Scheme of Studies of the Board, the Practical Examinations/Project/Internal Assessment for the session 2025-26 are scheduled from 1st January 2026 for all affiliated schools in India and abroad. However, the winter bound schools are expected to remain closed during January due to the winter season'.
The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for all schools have been released by the board for the conduct of practical exams, including uploading of marks, appointment of external examiner, unfair means, answer book for practicals, procedure for conducting exams and more.
CBSE Practical Exams 2026 Winter Bound Schools: Instructions to follow
As per the board, schools following the winter-bound sessions need to follow the below-mentioned guidelines for the timely completion of practical exams-
- Schools need to prepare the final list of students and ensure that no student of the school whose name has not been submitted in the online List of Candidates (LOC) to the board is allowed to appear for the practical exams, projects or internal assessment.
- The internal assessment exam for Class 10 will only be conducted once, hence, all schools should fill in the IA marks for all candidates as per the specified date.
- Schools must contact the regional office for the appointment of external examiners and observers.
- Schools need to complete the exams in time and dispatch practical exam answer books to the regional offices.
