CLAT 2026 exam on December 7; registration to start on August 1

The Consortium of NLUs has announced that the CLAT 2026 will be held in a single shift on December 7, 2025. The registration window for CLAT UG and CLAT PG will be available from August 1 to October 31, 2025.

New Delhi: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the important notice regarding the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026. It has announced the CLAT 2026 exam date along with registration details for the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law programmes at 24 participating NLUs. 

The CLAT 2026 entrance exam will be conducted on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The written exam will be held in a single shift in offline mode from 2 pm to 4 pm. The online registration window for CLAT 2026 will begin on August 1. The CLAT application form will be available from August 1 to October 31, 2025.

The official notice reads, "The Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the Consortium of National Law Universities (the "Consortium”) at their Meetings decided that the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 shall be conducted on Sunday, December 7th 2025, from 2 PM-4 PM."

CLAT exam: Who is eligible?

Candidates must meet all the eligibility criteria set by the Consortium to appear for the CLAT exam. One must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 45 per cent marks to register for CLAT UG exam. It is 40 per cent for reserved categories. For CLAT PG, candidates must possess a LLB degree with at least 45 per cent marks. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories require 40 per cent of marks to register for CLAT PG entrance exam.

Candidates are advised to keep checking the official portal for details regarding the application fee, seat matrix and others.
