Eligibility

Medical aspirants must meet all the prerequisites set by the respective university to obtain an MMBS seat. Explore the eligibility criteria for studying abroad in MBBS.

  • One should qualify in the NEET UG entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • Candidates must obtain at least 50 per cent marks in Class 12 exams or any equivalent exam from a recognised board in the country.
  • A minimum of 50 per cent marks required in subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
  • The minimum age to kick-start the registration process is 17 years.

Entrance Exams

The National Medical Commission (NMC) clearly stated that Indian students must qualify in the NEET UG exam to study MBBS in foreign medical colleges. The minimum age limit to apply for NEET UG is 17 years. There is no upper age limit for the NEET UG exam and the scorecard is valid for three years. Candidates who want to study MBBS abroad should note that foreign medical colleges/universities may ask for additional tests such as TOEFL and IELTS to prove their English language skills.

Fee Structure

Undoubtedly, high tuition fees are one of the major hurdles for Indian students to pursue higher education abroad. However, this is not so for students aiming to pursue MBBS abroad. Several countries including Russia, China and Poland offer quality medical education at very competitive price. Tuition fees vary from country to country and from university to university. It is advisable to check the course brochure meticulously for details regarding semester and tuition fees. However, the average cost per semester is around Rs 4-7 lakhs.

Admission Process

Most medical colleges or universities follow a standard procedure while shortlisting international students for their MBBS course. However, some universities may ask for minor additional details during the application process. But by and large, the admission process is more or less the same for all MBBS colleges abroad.

Medical students should start their admission process by shortlisting the country and college of their choice. It is advised to keep all the required copies ready for joining the MBBS course. Once the Letter of Acceptance is received from the university, candidates should start working towards paying the tuition fees and visa. Most experts recommend that candidates plan their travel at least a week before the start of the session.

Scholarships

Scholarships and financial aid are viable options for Indian students to escape from the hefty tuition fees. There are various types of scholarships available for Indian students pursuing MBBS abroad. Indian students who wish to pursue MBBS in Russia have the option to apply for 200+ scholarships offered by the Russian government and independent organizations. Hence, it is suggested that students can plan for an education loan or financial aid after checking the list of available scholarships from the admission officer.
