New Delhi: Most among the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) result top 10 rank holders have opted to leave the state for higher education, choose institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
The WBJEE result was announced on August 22. Aniruddha Chakrabarti has secured the top rank in WBJEE followed by Samyajyoti Biswas and Dishaanth Basu.
While the delay in the announcement of WBJEE results may have incited candidates to check for institutes outside Bengal, state higher education minister Bratya Basu highlighted. He noted that toppers moving to IITs has been a trend for several years now, calling any debate on the matter 'unnecessary'.
As per TOI reports, a senior official also pointed out that out of 1.1 lakh candidates, nearly 23,850 had appeared for WBJEE from other states.
WBJEE 2025 topper Aniruddha Chakrabarti, an alumnus of Don Bosco, Park Circus, has joined IIT Kharagpur in computer science and engineering. He stated, 'I always wanted to study computer science at an IIT, so I chose IIT-Kgp last month'.
Second rank-holder Samyajyoti Biswas of Kalyani Central Model School has opted for computer science at IIT Bombay, while third rank-holder Dishannth Basu has secured admission at IISc Bengaluru.
Fourth ranker Aritro Ray has also gone to IIT Bombay. 'It is a proud moment to see my son’s name among the WBJEE top 10,' said his mother, Mohua Maitra.
Fifth rank-holder, Trishanjit Doloi, is at IIT Bombay, while sixth ranker Sagnik Patra has fulfilled his dream of studying at IIT Kharagpur. Similarly, eighth ranker Archisman Nandi is at IIT Kgp, specialising in artificial intelligence, and Arka Banerjee, another top 10 scorer, has also joined IIT.
