New Delhi: Shark Tank India fame and entrepreneur Ashneer Grover faced massive trolling when he appeared on Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 18. Now, the host of the new reality show Rise & Fall has revealed that his appearance was turned into a controversy by Bigg Boss Season 19 makers and blown out of proportion.
He has also confirmed that he is not participating in Bigg Boss 19 as he is busy with the new reality show, Rise & Fall.
In an interview with Zoom, Ashneer Grover revealed that Salman Khan lashing out of him during his Bigg Boss 18 appearance was blown out of proportion in order to seek better TRPs. He was quoted as saying, “If you watch the footage, you’ll see I didn’t say anything negative about him. I was genuinely praising him. They invited me onto the show and turned it into a controversy. Perhaps that’s what the show required at that moment, and that’s acceptable.”
After his appearance on the reality show, he was trolled on social media, and his old statements started to circulate on social media. In 2023, he claimed on the podcast on Vaghera Vaghera that he had negotiated Salman Khan’s brand ambassador fee down from Rs 7.5 crore to Rs 4.5 crore. He also mentioned that Salman’s team refused him a photo with the actor at that time, but there’s no bad blood.
Ashneer also revealed, “I met Salman in May 2019 for three hours at JW Marriott Juhu to discuss the brand collaboration. It’s okay if he doesn’t remember me — I wasn’t a public figure then, and he meets so many people.”
After the episode of Bigg Boss 18, he wrote on social media, “I am sure the particular episode got great TRP/viewership”, adding, “Salman is a great host and actor. Salman knows what works on Bigg Boss. I’ve always praised Salman for his sense of self and business — not a single thing demeaning was said for him ever.”
The host of Rise & Fall, Ashneer Grover, also revealed that he had turned down the offer of Bigg Boss 19. He further joked that he would come on board only when offered higher fee than the host Salman Khan.
