Mumbai: Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji has reportedly stepped away from Dhoom 4, produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), over creative differences. Sources stated that the director has moved his attention to the Brahmastra sequel.

Sources claimed that Mukerji's approach for Dhoom 4 did not align with that envisioned by the makers of the movie. The decision to move on was amicable, and the parties involved are happy with it.

Why did Ayan Mukerji quit Dhoom 4?

A report by Bollywood Hungama said that the story of Dhoom 4 was already written by Shridhar Raghavan before Mukerji was even in the picture. Therefore, it gave Mukerji very little involvement in the narration aspect of the movie. A source stated that the filmmaker was not keen on going through with a project where he had very little to contribute to the screenplay.

He "didn’t have much say in the screenplay and didn’t want to embark on another journey of just execution," said a source.

They added, "Ayan believes that films like 'War 2' and 'Dhoom 4' were never meant for him. He wants to make films that have a wider scope for romance, drama, and storytelling along with spectacle.”

Mukerji made his decision after holding meetings with Yash Raj Productions head Aditya Chopra and Ranbir, who was supposed to expected to star in the film.

It is believed that the production house would hire an in-house director to continue the project.

Other announcements relating to the movie is expected to be made soon.

Meanwhile, Mukerji has diverted his attention to Astraverse, the sequel to the 2022 film Brahmastra.
