Mumbai: Tamil star Dhanush, in a press conferance in Delhi, revealed that he was told to have the 'perfect love failure face'. The star, playing opposite to Kriti Sanon in Aanand L Rai’s new film Tere Ishk Mein, was speaking at a press conference in Delhi.

When asked about his affinity towards intense and emotional characters, Dhanush revealed that director Aanand, whom he has collaborated for Raanjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021), calls him for such roles. He also divulged why Aanand considered him to be an apt fit for such characters.

"Aanand calls me for these kinds of films. I asked him, why you keep calling me? He looked at my face. You have the face of a heartbroken man," said Dhanush. The actor added Aanand's words left him in a reflective mode. "That day I went back, and I kept looking at my face. What is it about me that… I took it as a compliment," said Dhanush.

Dhanush's roles like Kundan in Raanjhanaa and Shankar in Tere Ishk Mein are emotional and complex. During the press conferance, Dhanush stated that such roles require a balance and a lot of homework. "Raanjhanaa especially looks simple, but it’s not. It’s a very complicated part to play; a little bit that way or this way, and you may end up not liking Kundan,” said the actor. He added, "Shankar is very easy to like, but he has his own challenges, which I can’t say much now."

Further explaining his drive to pick such roles, he stated that it motivated him. He stated that when actors read such scripts, they are excited by the possibility of doing something challenging and meaningful. He also emphasised that such roles require a lot of preparation apart from memoriziong lines.

Tere Ishk Mein is all set to hit the theatres on November 28. AR Rahman is the music composer of the romantic drama.
