"Haq is the most thought-provoking film of the year. Every woman, every feminist, every Muslim and every man who respects women must watch the film," said one on social media. Another wrote, "I have worked really hard to reach a point where there is creative satisfaction & audience love. So I shall never get tired of saying these 2 words from the bottom of my heart to each 1 of you -‘THANK YOU’.” A third person commented, "Film HAQ is a gem in the world of cinema. It asserts women's empowerment and equality beautifully. The film has some unnerving facts and injustices which have troubled women for ages, and how one change can bring a beautiful revolution for women in society."

Another person opined, "Having watched #YamiGautam, I can say she is at the top and there is no one who can be close to what she is doing. With Haq, she proves, she is the best and finest that we have in not just Bollywood but the whole of Indian cinema. One can say, with all facts and her performance, she is the number ONE actress of Indian Cinema. Unmatched. Period."

The movie, directed by Suparn S Varma, is inspired by the case of the Shah Bano Case and the Supreme Court's landmark judgment. Yami plays the role of  Shazia, an uneducated, Muslim woman. Abbas Khan plays the role of Emraan Hashmi, a successful advocate. The advocate brings home a second woman and then divorces Shazia through triple talaq. The film showcases Shazia's legal battle to win her rights.
