According to a TV9 Hindi report, SRK and Barjatya were initially in talks for this role. The renowned filmmaker revealed to Bollywood Bubble that he had met King Khan many years ago for Saif's role, and they even discussed the possibility of moving forward with it. However, Barjatya did not share why the talks did not work out or the reason behind Shah Rukh not doing Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Ultimately, the role went to Saif, and it would be safe to say that he aced it with his remarkable performance. To date, it is considered one of the best performances in his splendid career.

Along with Salman and Saif, Hum Saath Saath Hain also featured Sonali Bendre, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu, Mohnish Bahl, Mahesh Thakur, Neelam, Reema Lagoo and Alok Nath in pivotal roles. The film was produced and distributed by Rajshri Productions.
