Many people don't know that late actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik was apparently not the first choice to direct the Salman Khan starrer Tere Naam. In fact, he replaced Anurag Kashyap on the project, which later gained cult status among cinema lovers of all age groups.
New Delhi: Tere Naam is definitely one of the career-defining films of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. It not only garnered massive acclaim for the 59-year-old actor but also made a significant impact at the Box Office. But did you know that the much-talked-about film, directed by renowned filmmaker Satish Kaushik, was apparently originally helmed by Anurag Kashyap?
In an interview on Unfiltered By Samdish, dated February 5, 2023, Anurag revealed that he was thrown out of a film because he asked the hero not to wax his chest. When asked which film he was fired from, Anurag replied by saying Tere Naam.
He further explained why he asked Salman to grow chest hair. Anurag stated that the film was based in Agra-Mathura, where men don't wax their chests.

According to Sacnilk, Tere Naam grossed Rs 19.59 crore in India at the Box Office during its theatrical run. The industry tracker further states that the movie raked in Rs 24.55 crore worldwide.
Tere Naam marked the Hindi cinema debut of Bhumika Chawla. It also featured Sachin Khedekar, Savita Prabhune, Ravi Kishan, Sarfaraz Khan, Darshan Kumar and Gopal Datt in pivotal roles. The flick, written by Jainendra Jain, is said to be a remake of the Tamil film Sethu.
The storyline of Tere Naam revolved around a jobless graduate who falls in love with a first-year college student. After initial resistance, she also develops feelings for him. However, things take an unexpected turn when a shocking attack leaves him mentally unstable.
The film opened to mostly positive reviews upon its release in cinemas. On IMDb (Internet Movie Database), it is rated 7.2 out of 10, with insights from more than 20,000 users of the platform. Another reason for Tere Naam emerging as a commercial success was its chartbuster music by Himesh Reshammiya. Its songs are still played on loop by music lovers of all age groups.
