New Delhi: An Air India flight from Delhi to Washington DC was cancelled after an unexpected maintenance issue was found during a scheduled fuel stop in Vienna. The airline shared the update on Thursday, saying the safety of passengers and crew remains their top priority.
Flight AI103 had taken off from Delhi on July 2 and was scheduled to stop in Vienna only for refuelling. However, during routine checks at the Vienna airport, a technical issue was identified that required additional maintenance work.
According to an Air India spokesperson, this maintenance task needed more time to fix, and the aircraft could not continue its journey as planned.
As a result, the Vienna to Washington DC leg of the flight was cancelled, and all passengers were deboarded safely. The return flight, AI104 from Washington to Delhi via Vienna, was also cancelled due to the same reason.
Air India stated that all affected passengers have been offered alternative travel arrangements or full refunds, depending on their preference. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured that passenger safety remains their highest priority.
