Visakhapatnam: Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning along with squally winds with speed of 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely at some places in south coast, Rayalaseema areas of Andhra Pradesh, India Meteorological Department said.
Orange alert has been issued for Nellore, Annamaya, Chittoor and Tirupati and YSR Kadapa districts. Fishermen have been warned not to go fishing in the sea for another four days, IMD Amaravati said.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Agency has said that the cyclonic circulation, which passed over the Bay of Bengal, Sri Lanka, and surrounding areas of the Indian Ocean three hours ago, remains stationary in the same region.
There is a possibility that it may intensify into a severe cyclonic storm on Thursday, November 27 and a warning of heavy rains in south coastal AP and Rayalaseema on November 29, 30 till December 1.
According to weather blogger T Balaji, the Malacca strait system intensified into Cyclone Senyar and is moving towards Indonesia.
The system across Sri Lanka will likely further intensify as deep depression and later into Cyclone Ditwath and skirt all along North TamilNadu – South Coastal AP and coastal areas over the next 5 days. Due to this, it is said that the cold has reduced in the entire state of Telangana. Moderate rain is likely across East and South Telangana districts, especially in districts close to AP in December first week including in Hyderabad.
