AP: IAS officer’s daughter dies by suicide over alleged dowry harassment
Madhuri married Rajesh Naidu earlier this year in an inter-caste marriage.
Amaravati: A senior IAS officer’s daughter, S Madhuri, died by suicide at her family’s residence in Tadepalli on Sunday night, tv9 telugu reported.
The young woman had married Rajesh Naidu, 27, who is a native of Bethamcherla village, Nandyal district earlier this year in an inter-caste marriage. Rajesh was reportedly unemployed at the time of marriage.
Madhuri returns to parents’ home:
Police said that her in-laws had been harassing Madhuri for dowry and that she had left her in-laws home to come back to her parents in Tadepalli.
She was reportedly found hanging in her room on Sunday night. The parents had to break open the door after she did not come out for a long time. She was rushed to a hospital in Mangalagiri but the doctors said that she was brought dead.
The police registered a case after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint. Her body was shifted to Mangalagiri AIIMS for post-mortem and was later handed over to the family.
Madhuri’s father and IAS officer Chinna Ramudu said that Rajesh had deceived her at the time of marriage by saying that he had a job. He said that Rajesh had demanded additional dowry and threatened her. He expressed deep grief and said that he had never imagined that she would take the extreme step.
Meanwhile, her husband Rajesh Naidu said that her father Chinna ramudu, an IAS officer, and mother Lakshmi are the reasons for the death of his wife.
Police officials said that statements have been collected from both families and that investigation is underway.
