IMD issues fog alert for Andhra Pradesh, Northeast monsoon rains end in South India
No change in minimum temperature is expected over coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema over the next few days.
Amaravati: Shallow to moderate fog is likely in the morning time in some places in North Coastal AP, South Coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema over the next three days. Fog is likely to persist till at least January 22, India Meteorological Department in Amaravati said.
Vehicular traffic is severely affected as the roads are covered in a thick blanket of fog and those returning to the city after Sankranti festival are facing immense difficulties due to the fog.
The meteorological department has advised against traveling during the morning hours and issued warnings to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. No change in minimum temperature is expected over coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema over the next few days.
No significant rainfall activity occurred over south east peninsular India during the last two days, IMD Amaravati said in its weather inference.
In the lower levels, dry winds from northern India are prevailing over the region. Thus, northeast monsoon rains have ceased over southeast peninsular India from Monday, January 19. Dry weather will likely prevail over southeast peninsular India during the next two days.
Lower tropospheric Northerly, Easterly winds will prevail over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
