Nine fishermen return to AP after being detained in Bangladesh
The nine fishermen, who had gone fishing in October 2025, were detained by Bangladeshi Navy officials for inadvertently crossing the maritime boundary while fishing in Bay of Bengal.
Nine fishermen from Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, who were detained for the last three months in Bangladesh, have returned home, tv9 telugu reported.
On January 29, the Bangladesh Coast Guard handed the fishermen to their Indian counterparts, who then transferred them to local police.

Following diplomatic negotiations between India and Bangladesh, the fishermen were released and arrived on the Visakhapatnam coast on Monday, February 2.
Who are the nine fishermen?
The fishermen are identified as Marupalli Chinnappanna, Ramesh Appalakonda, Praveen, Ramu, Nakka Ramu, Seethaiah. Six of them are from Kondarajupalem village, Bhogapuram mandal, and three from Tippalavalasa village in Vizianagaram district.
The wife of Ramesh Appalakonda, one of the affected fishermen, recently gave birth to a child. Speaking to Tv9 Telugu, Appalakonda shed tears as he recounted his ordeal.
