Ten Visakhapatnam residents stranded in Nepal, Andhra Pradesh government issues helpline numbers

At least ten Visakhapatnam residents, all of whom are employees of LIC, have been stranded in Nepal as flights have been cancelled and the country plunged into chaos amidst massive anti-government protests.

The ten residents of Vizag were on a holiday in Pokhara town, when the chaos broke out. They have reportedly been in touch with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and informed their LIC colleagues in Visakhapatnam.

Minister Nara Lokesh speaks to stranded AP residents:

Meanwhile, Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday morning attended a virtual meeting with AP Bhavan officials at Real Time Governance Center at the  Secretariat in Amaravati. 

AP Bhavan officials briefed Lokesh on details of those stranded in various parts of Nepal and according to preliminary information, 215 Telugu people have been stranded. He instructed officials to make arrangements on war footing to bring them back safely. 

There are 90 people stranded in Gaushala, 55 in Pashupati city, 27 in Bafal, 12 in Similkot and a few more in other areas.

He also spoke to two women Surya Prabha and Roja Rani, who were in Nepal for darshan of Muktinath Temple and were stranded in a hotel

Lokesh assured them that they are in constant touch with the Union government and will bring them safely back to AP.

Telangana government activates helplines:

Meanwhile, Telangana government has also activated emergency helplines at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.

"While no Telangana citizens have been reported injured or missing, the state government is taking proactive precautionary measures in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to ensure the safety and swift repatriation of its citizens,” it said in a statement.
