Two more women die in AP due to Scrub Typhus
Lurthamma (59) from Komerapudi in Sattenapalli mandal of Palnadu district and D. Nagendramma (73) from Degavaripaleni in Bapatla district died of scrub typhus
Visakhapatnam: Officials said that Lurthamma (59) from Komerapudi in Sattenapalli mandal of Palnadu district and D. Nagendramma (73) from Degavaripaleni in Bapatla district died of scrub typhus at Guntur General Hospital on Sunday.
Lurthamma was admitted to GGH for treatment on November 28. Officials say that she was also suffering from a kidney-related disease.
Nagendramma was admitted with high fever and other health problems. Both were tested positive for scrub typhus, they said.
The number of women who died due to Scrub Typhus in AP now stands at 3. On Saturday, a 64-year-old woman Dhanamma of Prakasam district.
Authorities have been alerted after 50 scrub typhus cases were registered in Guntur district. Over a period of two months, at least 43 positive cases have been recorded in Visakhapatnam.
Symptoms of Scrub Typhus:
Doctors say that scrub typhus is transmitted by the bite of an insect similar to a bedbug. Symptoms like rashes, black spots form at the site of the bite, fever, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and dry cough appear.
People in rural areas should take precautions to avoid getting infected and it can get fatal.
