New Delhi: The Anti-Terrorism Squad, Gujarat on Wednesday arrested the mastermind of the Al-Qaeda terror module which had been operating in India. This is the 5th arrest in the case. Earlier 4 terrorists part of the terror module were arrested from different parts of the country.
The terrorist arrested by the ATS has been identified as Sama Parveen (30) from Bengaluru. She was associated with the Al-Qaeda.
The Jharkhand resident was arrested from Bengaluru. She has been arrested for following suspected terrorists on social media and posting radicalized content. Parveen is allegedly associated with Northeast-based militant outfit United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and was absconding for a long time. Based on intelligence inputs, Gujarat ATC officials arrested her from the limits of Hebbal police station in Bengaluru.
She has been taken to Gujarat, after a Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted transit remand to the Gujarat ATS. Police said that they will interrogate the woman to find out of any possible links of the terror module with Ulfa terror group of the Northeast.
Earlier the ATS had revealed that this terror module was active in the Indian subcontinent. All those arrested were reportedly in touch with Pakistan's ISI and the Pakistan Army during India's Operation Sindoor.
India had launched Operation Sindoor against terrorists holed up in Pakistan, after they attacked and killed tourists in Pahagam on April 22. Those arrested by the ATS were reportedly passing on information to their Pakistani handlers, as India tried to eliminate terrorists there.
The ATS also said that this terror module was trying to radicalise a particular community in India. They revealed that they did so through online mediums and their aim was to push Indians to stand with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Reports also said that the arrested individuals were passing on secret information to Pakistan through 2 secret Pakistani social media handles.
The main aim of the arrested terrorists was to brainwash individuals in India. They were using videos of Osama Bin Laden and Maulana Asim Umar to try and influence the youth in the country and brainwash them into supporting Pakistan. Pakistan was reportedly planning 'Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos' after India's Operation Sindoor and these individuals were helping them in it.
Earlier the 4 terrorists who were arrested were reportedly employed in various odd jobs in Noida, Delhi and 2 were working as tailors in Gujarat. Two terrorists caught earlier were identified as Mohammad Faiz and Zeeshan Ali.
