Army denies unverified reports of ceasefire violation along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir
This clarification came after a news agency reported that Pakistani forces had opened "unprovoked" fire on Indian forward posts in the Mankote sector of Poonch on Tuesday evening, prompting a retaliation by Indian troops.
New Delhi: The Army on Tuesday denied reports of a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, calling them "unverified".
This clarification came after a news agency reported that Pakistani forces had opened "unprovoked" fire on Indian forward posts in the Mankote sector of Poonch on Tuesday evening, prompting a retaliation by Indian troops.
The report further mentioned that the exchange of small arms firing between the two sides continued for nearly 15 minutes, the agency quoted a source as saying.
No ceasefire violation since May clashes
"There have been some media and social media reports regarding a ceasefire violation in the Poonch region. It is clarified that there has been no ceasefire violation along the LoC. Please avoid spreading unverified information," the Army said in an official statement.
Had it been confirmed, this would have been the first instance of ceasefire violation since Operation Sindoor. India launched a series of strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7 in response to Pahalgam terror attack. The clashes continued till May 10 after a ceasefire was agreed upon by both the countries.
