Mumbai: An auto driver from Mumbai earned the appreciation of many online with his honesty after he returned Rs 500 to a customer who overpaid by mistake. The incident was shared on Reddit by the user @Electronic-While998. In the post, the Redditor explained that he was only meant to pay Rs 55. However, he accidentally paid Rs 553.
The Redditor had taken a ride from Juhu Beach to Vile Parle station. On reaching the destination, the man mindlessly made an online transaction for Rs 553. He did not realise the blunder until he stood in line to buy a train ticket. In an attempt to meet the auto driver in person, he went to the auto stand. However, the auto was nowhere to be found. The man, who was new to the city, checked his transaction history and decided to call the number showcased.

At first, a woman attended the call and immediately disconnected. Later, the auto driver, Anil ji, picked up the call. The kind auto driver checked his transaction and returned the extra money. The happy Redditor rewarded Anil ji's kindness with Rs 100. "Koi baat nahi bhaiya," said the driver to the Redditor.
The post grabbed the attention of many people on social media. Netizens shared their experiences from their time in Mumbai. "Believe me, there are many such people in Mumbai. I honestly don’t even recollect how many times people have been helpful," said one. Another wrote, "Got into a car accident in Mumbai - was my fault - paid the other car driver as per garage estimate. 2 weeks later the guy called me multiple times- I thought he is probably calling to ask for more money… turns out his car was fixed for cheaper and he wanted to transfer extra money back to me."
Others asked the man to be more careful while doing online payments.
