Chamoli: After the recent bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, security has been tightened at Badrinath Dham and other religious places in Chamoli district. The police, Bomb Disposal Squad, and Assam Rifles have started joint checking operations to ensure safety.

On Tuesday, a special security drill was held at Badrinath temple complex. The team inspected the entry gates, parking area, passenger waiting zone, and surrounding roads. The Shri Badrinath Police Station, along with the Temple Committee, took part in the operation. A mock drill was also conducted to test emergency response.

Although the police called it a routine operation, the timing and intensity of the checks show that authorities are taking no chances. The BDC team also reached Badrinath Dham and joined the security efforts.

Chamoli Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panwar said that security has been increased at all major religious sites. Continuous checking is underway at Gopinath Temple, Narsingh Temple in Joshimath, and the Adi Badri Temple complex. Police are making sure that no suspicious activity takes place.

At Badrinath Dham, after the Shayan Aarti every night, it is ensured that no one stays inside the temple premises without reason. This step is taken to avoid any security risk during off-hours.

On the instructions of Hemant Dwivedi, President of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), an intensive checking campaign was launched. He also spoke with SP Surjeet Singh Panwar to coordinate efforts. Pilgrims have requested foolproof security arrangements, especially during the busy temple season.
