New Delhi: In a shocking murder reported from Bihar's Gopalganj, a woman was allegedly shot dead by her relatives over a property dispute. She was reportedly killed by her relatives with whom she was not on good terms, owing to the property dispute. Her son is with the Border Security Force (BSF).
According to a report in the Times of India, the police team identified the deceased as 40-year-old Savita Devi. She was allegedly shot dead while she was sitting on a cot inside her house. Her 15-year-old daughter was cooking in the kitchen when she heard gunshots.
Four people, who arrived on 2 motorcycles, entered the house and started firing at her. She died on the spot, said police officials.
An investigation has been launched in the matter and an FIR registered against the woman's relatives.
The deceased, Savita was married to Munna Yadav. She was a resident of Pandey Samail village under Mirganj police station area. Talking about the murder, the woman's brother Sonu Yadav, said that she had an old dispute with her relatives regarding a piece of land. The relatives had reportedly threatened her with dire consequences after one argument over the disputed property.
Sonu also said that Savita and her husband, Munna were living separately for the past 3 years. The 2 often quarreled when they were together, he said. Sabita used to live with her daughter in Pandey Samali village, while her son lives in Assam. He is currently undergoing training after qualifying for BSF. Her husband, Munna also lives in Assam and does business there, said Sonu.
The woman's daughter said that 4 masked men who came on motorcycles killed her mother. The police have recovered 2 cartridges from the house. The daughter's statement has been recorded and investigations have been launched against the relatives of the woman.
According to the police, Savita was also having an affair with someone in the village. This led to constant fights between her and her husband Munna. This angle, which may have led to the murder, is also being probed, said officials.
