BJP leader Pawan Singh to not contest Bihar Assembly Elections, says didnt join party for this
Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh has said that he will not be contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections. He said that he had not joined the BJP in the hope of a party ticket and described himself as a true party soldier. The announcement of him not contesting the elections was made after a meeting with Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and came just a day after his wife met Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor.
New Delhi: Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh on Saturday announced that he will not be contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections. He said that he had not joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just to contest elections.
The announcement by the Bhojpuri superstar came just hours after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Taking to social media platform, 'X', the Bhojpuri superstar wrote, "I, Pawan Singh, want to tell the whole Bhojpuri community that I had not joined the party (BJP) to fight the Assembly Elections in the state (Bihar). I do not wish to contest the Vidhan Sabha Elections. I am a true soldier of the party and will remain so."
He also shared a picture with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with his post.
The announcement came even as speculations were rife that the popular singer and actor of Bhojpuri industry may contest elections from either, Ara or Barhara seats. However now after this announcement by the man himself, all the speculations have been put to rest.
In 2024, Singh had contested the Lok Sabha Elections from the Karakat seat as an Independent candidate. He however lost to Raja Ram Kushwaha of CPI(ML) Liberation.
Pawan Singh's wife meets Prashant Kishor
Pawan Singh's decision was announced just a day after his wife, Jyoti Singh met the chief of Jan Suraaj Party, Prashant Kishor in Patna. The meeting happened at Kishor's residence in Sheikhpura on Friday.
Jyoti Singh however also dismissed all talks of taking a political plunge. She told reporters, "I have not come here to take part in any elections or with any political aims. The way I have been made to suffer, this should not happen with any other woman. I want to become a voice for all those women who are facing any kind of discrimination."
She claimed that she wanted to work for the welfare of women and it was for this that she had come to meet Prashant Kishor.
Prashant Kishor said that Jyoti Singh had met him two years ago also, with some of her supporters. He said that the Jan Suraaj Party had already announced the candidature of Dr Vijay Gupta from the Arrah Vidhan Sabha seat and it is not the culture of the newly launched outfit to change its rules for anyone.
