Three people were killed and eight others injured after a pick-up vehicle carrying vegetables overturned near Meetli village on the Meerut-Baghpat-Sonipat highway on Friday, police said. The accident occurred when the vehicle’s axle broke, causing it to roll over. The victims, farmers from Doula village, were en route to Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi. Police identified the deceased as Jan Mohammad, Rajju, and Ashfaq and sent their bodies for post-mortem.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday permitted “controlled feeding” of pigeons at four new locations in Mumbai — Worli Reservoir, Lokhandwala Back Road, Airoli-Mulund check post, and Gorai Maidan. Feeding will be allowed only between 7 am and 9 am, under supervision of voluntary organisations. The civic body clarified that existing kabutarkhanas will remain closed pending a High Court decision and expert committee report.

A Thane district court has acquitted two men accused of murdering their neighbour in 2020, ruling that the victim died of natural causes. Judge S. B. Agrawal said the prosecution failed to prove the case against Gufran Yusufali Ansari and Shahnawaz Mohammed Shafi Ansari beyond reasonable doubt. Medical evidence showed the victim suffered a heart attack, with only a minor injury found, leading the court to dismiss the murder charge.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has launched a campaign to recover unpaid water bills worth around Rs 250 crore by disconnecting defaulting connections. The dues include Rs 92.28 crore in arrears and Rs 157.8 crore for the current fiscal year. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has directed 100 per cent recovery this year. The TMC has already collected Rs 43 crore and warned legal action against illegal reconnections.

He added, "The state is the poorest despite their 20-year rule. There are no factories here, no investment. This Govt failed in all sectors. So, they should have released a 'sorry patra'.They have brought the manifesto in haste."
While speaking at an election rally in Bihar's Siwan ahead of the Assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that Congress, like the British, "created a crisis for the entire state of Bihar" which did not lead to the development of the state. He added, "Whatever was left was completely wiped out by the RJD. During the RJD's rule, crime and kidnapping had become an industry in Bihar. Anarchy and hooliganism existed in Bihar during the RJD's rule. They were creating an identity crisis for the youth of Bihar."
