Breaking News Live Updates: Over 200 flights were cancelled in Delhi, and about a 100 each in Bengaluru and Hyderabad on Friday morning as the IndiGo flight chaos entered the fourth day. The airline has apologised to its customers twice over the chaos.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police has issued a notice to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, asking him to provide financial and transactional details regarding the National Herald case. The EOW stated that Shivakumar may possess crucial documents related to the National Herald case. The AC local trains have become popular in West Bengal as they have enabled people to journey from one place to another comfortably. Hence, those trains have become a huge hit on the Sealdah-Ranaghat route. Now, AC local trains will also run on the Bandel route of the Howrah branch. Notably, Eastern Railway's General Manager, Milind Deuskar, has announced such a possibility, who also said that five more new AC trains are being brought in. IndiGo, the premier airline in India, has been hit by massive flight disruptions and in the latest update, all of its flights operating from Delhi have been cancelled till midnight Friday. In the last four days, over 1,000 flights of the airline have been cancelled. IndiGo has attributed the flight cancellations and delays to the new roster norms.

As hundreds of flights were cancelled by IndiGo, the government stepped in to help ease the situation. The aviation regulator has now withdrawn one part of its Flight Duty Time Limitations rules, which said that 'no leave will be substituted for weekly rest.' This is an attempt to resolve the crisis that hit India's largest carrier, IndiGo.
According to the aviation regulator, the partial relaxation in norms is that now the pilots' leave will also be counted as rest day. The DGCA's new duty norms for pilots have caused the current chaos. These new norms grant longer rest periods for pilots, hence reducing pilot's availability to fly.
The earlier set of rules for pilots included a mandatory weekly rest of 48 consecutive hours after seven days of work, along with night duty that lasted from 12 AM to 5 AM, which has now been extended until 6 AM. Pilots were previously allowed to perform up to six night landings, but this has been reduced to just two, and they could not be assigned more than two consecutive night shifts. The flight duty period also limited additional work to only one extra hour for pre-flight and post-flight tasks. After long-haul routes, such as flights between Canada and the US, pilots were entitled to a minimum of 24 hours of rest to ensure proper recovery.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, speaking at the MoU signing between GMR and the Delhi PWD Department, said, "The fight against pollution in Delhi is urgent given the alarming situation. It feels essential for everyone to unite in this battle. With collective effort, we can achieve better results. Today, moving in this direction, we have taken steps to involve major companies actively working here. We have signed an MoU with GMR to join the fight against pollution."

On IndiGo facing nationwide flight delays and cancellations, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi says, "I have submitted a calling attention. I was hoping that the civil aviation minister would give information in the Parliament yesterday itself, but unfortunately, that did not happen yesterday. He held a meeting late in the night and issued some directives, but what is the point of directives if so many flights are still being cancelled? I have just learned that IndiGo has cancelled all its departures from the Delhi Airport till 3 pm... DGCA has put aside the passengers and is catering to the airline instead of regulating it... If you are not responsible for rising airfares and passenger grievances then shut down the Civil Aviation Ministry..."
11West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal directed booth-level officers (BLOs) engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to re-check enumeration forms and ensure that names of all deceased, absent or duplicate voters are deleted before the first phase ends on December 11.
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh says, "While TMC has opposed the SIR in West Bengal, it has also misused the process. They have pressurised BLOs into furthering their agenda... The entire verification must be carried out; otherwise, the 10% of false voters in the state will remain, and the entire SIR process will go to waste..."
Three elephants, including a calf, were found dead under mysterious circumstances in a privately owned forest in Vellore district on Thursday, triggering a joint Tamil Nadu–Andhra Pradesh investigation. The carcasses were located in Bhaimala, a private forest abutting the Kondapalli Reserved Forest and close to the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, an interstate elephant corridor.
Authorities say field staff on routine patrol detected "two old carcasses of elephant and one calf in a decayed state near a waterhole." The spot falls within Tamil Nadu's territorial limits, around 4–5 kilometres from the Andhra Pradesh border.

Prachi Sethi, co-founder and designer at This Is It Studio, has caught the internet’s attention after sharing an emotional post on X about her experience of landing in Delhi amid persistently high pollution levels.
“One of the most jarring sights of my life. I don’t say that lightly,” Sethi wrote in her post, after landing in the national capital. She said that within hours of arriving from Ahmedabad, she felt her “eyes burning,” her throat giving out, and her sinuses shutting down, despite wearing a mask for most of her trip.
