New Delhi: Congress Party on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a post he made on social media platform 'X'. The post of the PM was on the occasion of Rashtroya Swayamsevak (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's birthday. The post also mentioned Swami Vivekananda's 1893 speech in Chicago at the World’s Parliament of Religions. But the Congress was not too pleased with the PM's post. They reminded him that he forgot to mention that Mahatma Gandhi had started his first Satyagrah on September 11, 1906 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Congress party slammed the PM saying that through this post on the occasion of Bhagwat's birthday, all that he was trying to do was "impressing the Sangh". Taking to social media platform, 'X', Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned the PM missing out on mentioning Mahatma Gandhi's name and the start of the Satyagrah in South Africa on the date.
Ramesh wrote that this was the first time that the world came to know about the concept of 'satyagrah'. However, criticising the PM, the Congress leader said that it was really not expected from the PM to remember the origins of 'Satyagrah' since the word truth in itself is unfamiliar to him.
Taking a dig at the PM's 'non-biological' remark while describing himself, in one of his speeches, Ramesh said that the PM treats himself as if he is like God, playing on the word God, in hindi, 'writing 'God-se', referring to Nathuram Godse, who killed Mahatma Gandhi.
The criticism from the Congress Party came after PM Modi in a newspaper article praised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, on the occasion of the latter's birthday.
