Donald Trump listed as Bihar resident? Fake certificate on US Prezs name surfaces in Samastipur
A fake residential certificate issued in the name of US President Donald Trump in Bihar has exposed vulnerabilities in the state's Right to Public Service (RTPS) portal. The application, submitted online, included a tampered photograph, a fake Aadhaar number, and a fabricated address.
New Delhi: Is US President Donald Trump a resident of Bihar? Well, ahead of the state Assembly elections this year, shocking information has come up which has forced us to quip the much popular statement, "India is not for beginners."
Donald Trump in Bihar? Is this real?
Yes, very much. In Samastipur, a fake residential certificate was issued in the name of Trump. On July 29, the application was submitted online from the Mohiuddinnagar block. The person who applied used the name and photograph of the US President. Not only that, the perpetrator even used a fake Aadhaar number and a local address in the application.
How did this come to light?
It was during the verification of the applications that the officers spotted the fake submission. The photo of Donald Trump was tampered with, as were the barcode and other details. The form was rejected by the Circle Officer, as can be guessed, and a complaint has been filed with the local cyber police station for a crime which has baffled and amused many.
Why was it done?
As per the officials, the application was made intentionally to mock the administrative system and also undermine its credibility. However, it has once again put Bihar’s RTPS (Right to Public Service) portal in the spotlight. Recently, fake applications have increased in the portal, and notably, a valid residence certificate was issued to ‘Dog Babu’ with a photo of a golden retriever and the names ‘Kutta Babu’ and ‘Kutiya Devi’ were listed as parents, which sparked major outrage.
It was cancelled, and an FIR has been filed against the applicant, the computer operator, and the official who approved the issuance of the certificate. According to a senior official, these incidents show there are major gaps in digital verification and other fake applications using names like ‘Nitish Kumari’ and ‘Sonalika tractor’ have made the officials concerned.
