Duologue NXT: Global actor Rona-lee Shimon opens the series, scribbling the art of crafting destiny

New Delhi: The premiere episode of Duologue NXT, the bold new step in the evolution of the acclaimed series ‘Duologue with Barun Das’, opens with an unforgettable conversation between host Barun Das, MD and CEO, TV9 Network and celebrated international actor Rona-Lee Shimon best known globally for her riveting portrayal of ‘Nurin’ in the hit series ‘Fauda’. What unfolds is a free-wheeling conversation on ambition, courage, the relentless pursuit of one’s calling and much more.

Barun Das, whose signature style of blending probing intellectual acuity with the warmth of a fellow empathetic traveller, draws out the arc of Shimon’s life with ease and precision. His characteristic ability to pivot between personal reflection and big-picture insights, while keeping the dialogue engaging and deeply human, reminds audiences why Duologue has built a devoted following across three successful seasons.

The episode, themed 'Crafting Your Destiny Through Passion, Perseverance & Preparation', unfolds like a narrative of modern artistry. Shimon speaks of embracing the unknown, letting curiosity rather than a rigid plan guide her early steps. She recounts how a crushing fifth place exit in 'So You Think You Can Dance' became the very prelude to her first lead acting role the next day, a reminder that 'perseverance can transform setbacks into springboards'.

Reflecting on leadership, Barun Das, said, "There is no correct decision in life, you take a decision and make it correct. Failure is never an option. Whatever the outcome, nothing goes wasted if you learn and move forward.”

This first edition of Duologue NXT signals a fresh, compelling chapter for the franchise, one that celebrates women who are shaping their own narratives while inspiring others to break barriers. Rona-Lee Shimon’s story, illuminated by Barun Das’s incisive yet empathetic hosting, sets the bar high for the season ahead: a celebration of grit, grace and the art of defining one’s own destiny.

In an exchange that feels equal parts incisive and engaging, Das proves yet again why 'Duologue' has become a gold standard for long-form storytelling. His trademark blend of curiosity and quiet authority draws out the layers of Shimon’s journey: from her formative years as a ballet dancer to becoming an internationally recognised actor.

"You have to know what you want badly enough to lose sleep over it,” Shimon tells Barun. "Be the hardest working person in the room and never take no for an answer when you believe in yourself.” "This dialogue reminded me why I fight for my art every day. Passion is the spark, perseverance is the journey, but preparation is what turns dreams into roles and roles into a career,” she further added.

With Rona-Lee Shimon’s fearless testimony of grit and grace, the series has announced its arrival not merely as a podcast, but as a movement celebrating women who own their destiny.
