New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Oman on Wednesday for a two-day visit. Oman's Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said received the Prime Minister at the airport, where a guard of honour was accorded to him. However, what caught everyone's attention was an earring-like object seen on PM Modi's ear.

However, a closer look revealed that PM Modi was not wearing earrings but a real-time translation device, which is commonly used during high-level diplomatic engagements for smooth communication and avoid a language barrier.
PM Modi's Oman visit
The Prime Minister's Oman visit was the last leg of his recent three-nation tour. During his visit, India and Oman signed the free trade agreement (FTA), which will provide duty-free access to around 98 per cent of India's export.
PM Modi was also conferred with the Order of Oman, the Gulf nation's civilian honour, by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his "exceptional contribution" to India-Oman ties.
"This is a symbol of affection and trust between the people of India and Oman," PM Modi had said on X.
