New Delhi: Every inch of Pakistan is within the range of BrahMos, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday as he flagged off the first batch of the missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Singh said, "Every inch of Pakistan’s territory is now within the reach of BrahMos. Operation Sindoor is proof that victory has become a habit for us, and now we must further enhance our capabilities. The operation was just a trailer. It has made Pakistan realise what might follow." The Defence Minister further said that the missile has become the backbone of armed forces.
BrahMos role in Operation Sindoor
Highlighting the role of BrahMos in Operation Sindoor, Singh stated that during the military conflict with Pakistan in May, the missile showcased that it has moved far beyond a trial and has become the greatest practical proof of national security.
Singh described BrahMos a symbol of the growing indigenous capabilities of the nation and said that the missile is equipped with a traditional warhead and an advanced guided system and has capability to strike long distances at supersonic speeds.
The Defence Minister further said that BrahMos has become key pillar of armed forces and has strengthened every Indians' belief that "India can turn its dreams into reality".
'BrahMos team signed contracts with 2 countries'
Asserting that several countries have showed interest in purchasing the India-made missiles, Singh said the BrahMos team has signed contracts worth approximately Rs 4,000 crore with two countries in the last one month. “Whether it is the export of the BrahMos to the Philippines or cooperation with other countries in the future, India is now playing the role of a giver, not just a taker," he added. He further said that the achievements of Brahmos proved that Made-in-India is no longer a slogan, but a global brand.
First batch of Brahmos manufactured in Lucknow
According to an official statement, BrahMos Aerospace, the manufacturer of the BrahMos supersonic missile system, has successfully produced the first batch of the missile system from its new integration and test facility in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow.
"This is not only a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) but will also provide a new energy to India's resolve to achieve self-reliance in defence manufacturing," the statement read.
The state-of-the-art unit was virtually inaugurated by Rajnath Singh on May 11, 2025. It has all modern facilities for missile integration, testing and final quality checks.
