New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids at Al-Falah University's Faridabad office and at locations in Delhi's Jamia Nagar as part of an investigation into the institution's funding and its alleged links to the ongoing probe into the Delhi terror attack. The federal agency's searches began at around 5am.
An ED team reached the Faridabad premises early in the morning and began examining financial documents, electronic devices and other records. Searches are also being conducted at multiple locations linked to the university, its trustees and associated individuals. Officials said the raid is part of a coordinated operation covering 25 sites across Delhi and Haryana.
The action comes days after Delhi Police issued two summons to Al-Falah University Chairman Javed Ahmad Siddiqui in connection with the Faridabad terror module case, as well as separate allegations of forgery and fraud. The summons followed complaints by the University Grants Commission (UGC), after which two FIRs were registered against the university on November 14.
According to senior Crime Branch officers, Siddiqui's statement is crucial to clarify discrepancies found in the university's functioning and accreditation-related claims. Both the UGC and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) flagged major irregularities in the university's submissions, prompting law enforcement to initiate criminal proceedings.
According to reports, Siddiqui's questioning is part of a broader investigation into last week's blast near the Red Fort, as several suspects linked to the attack are believed to have connections with the university. Investigators are scrutinising institutional records, financial transactions and administrative approvals as part of the probe. Separate teams of the Crime Branch's Interstate Cell are handling the two FIRs.
