On Wednesday, the passports of the Luthra brothers were suspended. Confirming the suspension, the Goa Police said this was done to prevent the duo from proceeding further from Thailand, to a third country and hiding there.

New Delhi: The owners of the Goa nightclub, Saurabha Luthra and Gaura Luthra, who fled the country and flew to Thailand after the fire tragedy, are expected to be brought back to India by December 15 or 16, sources said on Friday. The Luthra brothers were detained by Thai authorities on Thursday. The duo fled to Thailand's Phuket shortly after a massive fire tore through 'Birch by Rome Lane' nightclub in Arpora in North Goa late Saturday night.

According to officials, efforts to bring them back from Thailand to India have now been intensified. The Goa nightclub owners were held from a hotel room in Thailand on Indian government's request on Thursday. The duo was later taken to the airport by Thai authorities for legal formalities, said officials.

How are Luthra brothers being deported?

Luthra brothers' deportation to India is likely to be delayed by 48 to 72 hours as they don't have any valid travel documents.
On Wednesday, the passports of the Luthra brothers were suspended. Confirming the suspension, the Goa Police said this was done to prevent the duo from proceeding further from Thailand, to a third country and hiding there.

After completing the legal process for certain documents, they will be issued an 'outpass', or an Emergency Travel Certificate by the Indian embassy in Bangkok by Monday or Tuesday, allowing them to travel one-way back to India despite their passports being suspended.

According to sources, after canceling their visas, Thai police transported Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra from Phuket to Bangkok this morning. They were later taken to the Thai Immigration Detention Center in Bangkok.

After the emergency certificates are issued, their tickets will be booked and they will be extradited to India with Indian authorities. Upon landing in India, they will be arrested and produced before a Goa court within the next 24 hours, where the court will grant them police custody.

In this process, the Goa Police can also go to Bangkok and coordinate directly with the Thai police or through the CBI, sources said. The Luthra brothers are expected to be brought back to India on Monday or Tuesday.
