Kumar uses service revolver to end life

Kumar, who was recently transferred to the Police Training College (PTC) in Sunaria, Rohtak, was found dead in the basement of his house. Police said he used his service revolver to end his life. His daughter discovered the body and informed neighbours, who alerted the police.
The officer's death has triggered shock and unease within Haryana's police establishment. Officials said the suicide note may be linked to a corruption case in Rohtak, which Kumar had initiated and in which his name was later added. The FIR, filed by a liquor contractor, alleged that an aide of Kumar demanded Rs 2.5 lakh in bribes. Though the aide was arrested, Kumar's name appeared in the FIR without state government approval -- which according to reports made him upset.

Police start investigation based on suicide note's contents

Known for his outspoken nature, Kumar had earlier written to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, questioning the legality of promotions granted to IPS officers, alleging that Finance Department clearances had overridden Home Ministry guidelines.
Kumar's wife, IAS officer Amneet P Kumar, was on an official visit to Japan with the chief minister at the time of the incident. Police have begun an inquiry based on the suicide note's contents.
