New Delhi: Rohini Acharya, the second daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal patriarch, Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Sunday said that she had cut ties only with her younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav. A teary-eyed Rohini was interacting with reporters in Delhi. She clarified that she had not left her family as was reported in the media earlier.
Acharya was seen leaving her elder sister Misa Bharti's home in Delhi. When asked by reporters about disowning her family and what led her to step away from politics, she responded, "Rohini always tells the truth."
She further added, "Ask these questions to Tejashwi Yadav and those behind the fallout, ask Sanjay Yadav, Rachel Yadav (Tejashwi Yadav's wife) and Rameez."
The family feud of Lalu Prasad Yadav is being played out in public, after the announcement of the results of the Assembly Elections in Bihar. The RJD was routed by the National Democratic Alliance of BJP and JD(U). The party managed to win just 25 seats, much below the 75 seats it won in the 2020 Assembly polls.
Following the announcement of the results, a review meeting was reportedly held by the RJD. At this meeting, say sources there was a big argument between Rohini and her brother, Tejashwi, Tejashwo reportedly blamed her for the loss and asked her to return to her in-laws house. Following this, his aide Rameez advised her to quit politics.
Now talking to reporters, Acharya thanked her parents and sisters for always standing by her side. She was quoted as saying, "My father has always been by my side. My parents and my sisters were crying for me yesterday. I am blessed to have parents like them."
She claimed to be in constant touch with her father. She had earlier accused her brother, Tejashwi of "humiliating" her and even "raising a slipper at her."
She told reporters that she was asked by her brother to leave the house when she questioned him about the RJD's poor showing in the Assembly Elections. She said, "Why is it that only daughters are expected to make sacrifices, especially when there are brothers? When daughters ask questions, they are asked to go to their in-laws' house."
It must be noted that Rohini had donated a part of her kidney to her father Lalu Prasad Yadav and saved his life. Talking about the entire episode, she posted on her social media handle that she was cursed and told that she had allegedly "donated a dirty kidney to her father." She said, "Yesterday, I was cursed at and told that I am dirty, and that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in."
Saying that only sons should take responsibility of parents, she said, "To all the married women, I will say that when there's a son in your maternal home, never, ever save your God-like father; instead, tell your brother, the son of that house, to get his own kidney or that of one of his Haryanvi friends transplanted."
She added, "All sisters and daughters should look after their own homes and families, take care of their children and their in-laws' household without caring for their parents, think only about themselves."
Acharya also told reporters that she would be going to Mumbai, to meet her mother-in-law. She said that her mother-in-law was worried about her and had been crying since yesterday.
