‘Hindus there will have to stay united’: Mohan Bhagwat on ongoing tensions in Bangladesh
Addressing an event in Kolkata, Bhagwat observed that with India being the only country for Hindus, the government must do something to help them.
Kolkata: Amid an increase in violence in Bangladesh over the recent killing of student leader Osman Hati, the Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that Hindus must remain united in Bangladesh as they are in a minority. He added that Hindus all over the world must come to their aid.
‘India only country for Hindus’
Addressing an event in Kolkata, Bhagwat observed that with India being the only country for Hindus, the government must do something to help them. He added that the government might have started taking steps for Hindus in Bangladesh.
Situation quite difficult in Bangladesh: Mohan Bhagwat
"They are a minority there, and the situation is quite difficult. Even though it's difficult, for maximum protection, the Hindus there will have to stay united. And Hindus all over the world must come to their aid. We must help them as much as possible, within our limitations. We have to do everything we can, and we are doing it. The only country for Hindus is India,” news agency ANI quoted the RSS chief as saying.
He added, "The Indian government will have to take cognisance of this. They will have to do something. They might already be doing something. Some things are disclosed, some cannot be. Sometimes there are results, sometimes there aren't. But something has to be done.”
Work is transparent: RSS chief
Pointing out concerns whether the RSS is anti-Muslim, Bhagwat noted, "If there is a perception that we are anti-Muslim, then, as I said, the RSS work is transparent. You can come anytime and see for yourself. After seeing, people have said that you are staunch nationalists. You organise Hindus, and you advocate for the protection of Hindus. But you are not anti-Muslim. Many people have accepted this, and those who want to know more should come and see the RSS for themselves.”
