A woman was raped by a man posing as a delivery executive in Pune. The incident took place on July 2 at around 7:30 pm at a residential society in Pune. The woman who works at a private firm was reportedly alone at home when the man entered her flat and raped her. He also clicked a selfie on her phone and left a threatening message.
New Delhi: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in Pune, who came to her home posing as a delivery executive. The woman is a resident of the Kondhwa area in the city. The incident took place on July 2.
Man entered woman's flat, overpowered her: Police
The man entered the residential society at around 7:30 pm on July 2. He had a bank envelope in his hand and reached the woman's flat, who was alone at home. The man reportedly asked for a pen to sign a document. When the woman turned around to get it, he entered her flat.
The woman was alone at home at the time, as her brother was out of town. Police said that the accused might have used pepper spray on the woman and even used sedatives to make the woman unconscious, before raping her.
The woman remained unconscious for around 1 hour., When she regained consciousness, she called up her relatives and informed them about what had happened. Her relatives alerted the police.
The woman is employed at a private firm. She does not recall the sequence of events after the man entered her flat.
The man reportedly left a message on the woman's phone, which read, "I will come again." He also took selfies at the place post rapin the woman and also took pictures of the woman, which were used to threaten her.
The police have registered a case under Sections 64, 77 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused. The CCTV footage in the area captured the man leaving the society. They are now being used to trace him, police said. Police hope to get a breakthrough in the case soon.
