New Delhi: In a heartbreaking post on Reddit, a 21-year-old man fighting terminal cancer has shared a moving emotional note about his final days. It shows how lucky we are, those who are living a healthy and happy life, and the despair of those who have to accept that their lives are going to end, and they can do anything about it.
What did the person say in the post?
The person wrote in the Reddit post, “Cancer won, guys, see ya!!! Hey everyone, I am 21M. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer back in 2023. After more chemotherapy sessions and hospital stays than I can count, the doctors have told me there’s nothing left to try. I probably won’t make it to the end of this year.”
As the world around him is preparing to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, the person is facing the gloom of eternal darkness. He wrote, "The lights are already showing up in the streets. By this time next year, I will exist just in a memory.”
The dreams that remain unfulfilled
The man, facing an inevitable death at just 21, shared the dreams that will remain unfulfilled. He wrote, “I wanted to travel more, start something of my own, maybe even adopt a dog once things got better. Then I remember I’m running out of time, and the thought just fades. I am home, and I can see the sadness in my parents’ faces."
He ended by saying, “I don’t really know why I’m posting this. Maybe just to say it all out loud, to leave a small trace before I fade quietly into whatever comes next.”
Several users wished the man well, understanding his pain and suffering. One user wrote, “This type of wishful thinking for a person we never met or will never meet is what makes us human." Another user wrote, “Damn man. Sometimes I wonder how lightly we take the pleasure of living. All the daily quarrels, fights, rat-race, degrees, jealousy, comparison mean nothing when one takes a broader look at life.”
Another user wrote, "I hope a miracle happens, and that your cancer has a dysfunction, and that everything works out! Hang in there, man. And simultaneously, make the most of whatever you have. Go for nice, long evening walks. Enjoy the birds singing in the morning. Listen to some nice Music: whatever gets you shaking your leg. Enjoy a nice brunch. Have mimosas. Have two. Enjoy the company of your family & friends. And all that jazz. Just make the most of it, man."
