New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India is currently in a full-fledged ‘Reform Express’ phase with the reforms happening with rapidity and clear intent.
According to sources, PM Modi was speaking at the parliamentary meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) when he remarked about India's 'Reform Express' age and emphasized that the government’s reforms are completely focused on development.
He said that reforms have been brought about for the people, and they are not simply driven by the economy or revenue. PM Modi explained that the aim of the Centre is to remove everyday hurdles of people so that they can grow to their full potential.
PM Modi urged the MPs to actively share real problems faced by ordinary people, so that every household in the country benefits from the 'Reform Express. He said that his aim is to end the traditions of filling out forms of 30-40 pages, with people getting into unnecessary paperwork.
He stressed that "we need to provide services at the door of citizens and eliminate repeated data submissions." PM Modi recalled that the government trusted citizens by allowing self-certification, and emphasized that for a decade, the trust has worked successfully without misuse. PM Modi added that the government's top priorities are both Ease of Life and Ease of Doing Business.
Meanwhile, while speaking on the ongoing IndiGo crisis in the meeting, PM Modi said that the government's rules and regulations should be used for the benefit of the system, not to create problems for the common people. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, sharing excerpts of PM Modi's comments on the IndiGo crisis, said, "Prime Minister Modi said rules and regulations should be used to improve the system, not harass the public." He quoted PM Modi as saying that "it is our responsibility to ensure that no citizen of India faces any kind of trouble from the government simply because they are Indian citizens."
