New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said India is moving ahead on the path of development while proving wrong predictions of its downfall, even as the United Kingdom faces division amid an anti-immigration movement.
Speaking at a book launch event in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, Bhagwat said India's unity lies in the wisdom inherited from its ancestors. "The world operates on faith and trust, not logic. We led the world for 3,000 years without conquering any country, suppressing any trade or converting anyone. Wherever we went, we spread civilisation, knowledge and skills that enriched life," he said.
Referring to former British prime minister Winston Churchill, he said, "Churchill once said that after freedom from British rule, India would not remain united and would fall apart. But that did not happen. Instead, England itself is now facing division."
Bhagwat attributed global conflicts and crises to the pursuit of personal interests. He described India as a land where faith is "infused with action and reason" and rooted in direct experience and evidence. "We are all actors in the play of life, performing our roles until the play ends, and then our true self is revealed," he said.
Calling India a land of "faith infused with action and reason", the RSS chief said the country's traditions of belief are rooted in direct experience and evidence. "We are all actors in the play of life, performing our roles until the play ends, and then our true self is revealed," he said.
Bhagwat also noted that the Narmada river circumambulation is a symbol of deep faith in India, describing the nation as one where both "men of action and men of reason" exist. "The world runs on faith and belief," he added.
