New Delhi: In an apparent attempt to placate angry passengers, IndiGo on Thursday announced travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 for "severely impacted customers" after days of chaos at major airports across the country due to multiple cancellations of its flights. The airline, in a statement, said that the travel vouchers can be used for any future IndiGo journey for the next 12 months.
"IndiGo regrettably acknowledges that port of our customers bevelling on December 3/4/5 were stranded for many hours at certain airports and number of them were severely impacted due to congestion. We will offer travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to such severely impacted customers," the statement reads.
Additional compensation
The airline, which is under fire over operational crisis and cancellation of more than 2,000 flights for several days, said that the compensation is in addition to its commitment to provide Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 as per the existing government guidelines, to those customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure time
"At IndiGo, we are committed to restoring the experience you expect from us — safe, smooth, and reliable. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you again," the country's largest airline said.
Refunds for cancelled flights initiated
IndiGo further said that necessary refunds for cancelled flights have already been initiated and emphasised that their foremost priority continues to be the "care of our customers".
"As part of this, following the operational disruption, we have ensured that all necessary refunds for cancelled flights have been initiated, most of which have already reflected in your accounts, with the remainder following shortly," the statement stated.
The airline said that if the booking was made through a travel partner platform, the necessary actions for the refund have also been initiated. "As we may not have your complete details in our system, we request you to write to us at customer,experience@goindigo,in so we can continue to assist you promptly.
IndiGo flight services restored
In another statement, the airline said its services to all destinations have been restored for four days now and that there have been no same-day cancellations for the past three days except those due to weather, technical and other uncontrollable factors.
"IndiGo continues to strengthen its operations, improving its services day by day to now operating 1,900+ flights that seamlessly connect all 138 destinations across our network. Our commitment to operational excellence has led to significant efficiency gains, and our On-time Performance has been restored to top-tier industry standards," it said.
