We are committed to deepening our Strategic Partnership, including in trade, energy, tech, defence, health and more. Both hit with a 50 per cent tariff

Incidentally, both India and Brazil have been hit with a 50 per cent tariff by Donald Trump. Earlier, President Lula announced his intentions to hold talks with BRICS leaders on a possible joint response to US tariffs. He said he intended to start consultations with India and China, signalling a coordinated BRICS strategy could soon take shape.

Lula clearly said that he would not contact Trump directly, as it would be "humiliating" for him. He said, "The day my intuition says Trump is ready to talk, I won't hesitate to call him," Lula said. "But today my intuition says he doesn't want to talk. And I won't humiliate myself." He said he would rather contact BRICS partners first, preferably PM Modi or Chinese President Xi Jinping. Staying true to his words, the Brazilian President have contacted PM Modi.
