Tragedy averted in Karnataka as six coaches of train get separated on Tunga River bridge

Six coaches detached from train number 16205 on the Tunga River bridge near Shivamogga, causing a brief disruption. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and railway officials swiftly reconnected the coaches.

New Delhi: In an incident which has shocked everyone and has once again raised the issue of safety in trains, six coaches were separated from a train on the Tunga River bridge. The incident happened while the train was in motion, as the coaches came off, much to the horror of the passengers and onlookers.

However, fortunately, no major accident occurred, and nobody was injured. The train in question has the number 16205, and it was on its way from Talaguppa to Mysuru.

How did the incident take place?

Train number 16205 was en route to Mysuru from Talaguppa. As it approached the Tunga Bridge near Hole Bus Stand in Shivamogga city, six coaches suddenly got separated from the train. The remaining coaches moved forward with the engine, and the train stopped after going ahead a short distance.

After receiving the information, railway officials rushed to the spot. Engineers and mechanics worked for about 48 minutes and succeeded in connecting the separated coaches. The movement of trains has resumed on that track after the problem was fixed. The incident took place within the limits of the Shivamogga Railway Police Station.

In other news, the Indian Railways has enabled passengers to book tickets for select Vande Bharat Express trains just 15 minutes before the arrival of the train. The Railways have upgraded the Passenger Reservation System (PRS), and this has been done to increase passenger experience and ensure hassle-free current bookings.
