Ernakulam: Honey M Varghese, the sessions court judge who pronounced the verdict in the actress assault case is facing massive backlash in social media platforms for the past one week. The matter has taken a serious turn after Kerala Judicial Officers Association has approached the High Court seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against persons allegedly defaming the Judge.

It alleged that defamatory content was deliberately live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube, making baseless and scandalous allegations against a sitting judicial officer, including a false charge that the judgment was prepared in consultation with the accused.

In its memorandum, the association stated that certain media houses and individuals with vested interests began disseminating baseless allegations after the judgment was delivered.

According to the association, the materials uploaded on social media were intended to erode public confidence in the judiciary by scandalising a judge in the eyes of the public and amount to criminal contempt of court under Section 2(c) of the Contempt of Courts Act.

Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi slams Mohanlal for sharing screen space with Dileep

Bhagyalakshmi, the renowned dubbing artist, on Monday criticised actor Mohanlal for sharing the poster of the film Bha Bha Ba shortly after the verdict in the 2017 actress assault case.

Speaking to reporters at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) venue, Bhagyalakshmi questioned whether Mohanlal had reflected even for a moment before sharing the poster of the film, which stars Dileep - who was the eighth accused in the case-in the lead, with Mohanlal appearing in a guest role.

“On the very day the verdict came, isn’t it the same Mohanlal whom we all love who released that poster? Shouldn’t one stop for a moment and think what one is doing? We also heard him say he is praying for both ‘him’ and ‘her’. All this is part of the financial space Dileep has created. That is what we saw,” Bhagyalakshmi said.
