Defying Congress leadership, Rahul Mamkoottathil attends assembly session; CPM slams VD Satheeshan

Thiruvananthapuram: Breaking the suspense in the last moment, Rahul Mamkoottathil, the Palakkad MLA and the former Youth congress president entered the assembly and attended the the first day of the session much to the shock of the Congress leadership, especially VD Satheeshan who had clearly informed to refrain from attending the session.

Rahul reached the assembly building in his private car along with Youth Congress leader Nemom Shajeer, a prominent leader from Thiruvananthapuram who has been supporting Rahul right from the beginning of the entire controversy against him that led to his resignation from the Congress party.

However, Congress leadership refrained from commenting on the matter as most leaders refused to speak on the matter. 

Interestingly, Sunny Joseph, KPCC president hit out at the CPM and the media critics over Rahul attending the session and said that Rahul has no restrictions to attend the assembly session as the MLA of Palakkad as he is the people's representative of the constituency.

"VD Satheeshan should explain the entry of Rahul to the public. This is a matter that is concerning the morality of political leaders who are been elected to the assembly and have later misused it", said VK Sanoj, DYFI leader. 

Palakkad and other parts of the state saw massive protests against Rahul Mamkoottathil and the Congress leadership for allegedly shielding Rahul in the matter.

The entry of Rahul Mamkoottathil is a shot in the arm for the LDF government which was in the defensive over a number allegations of custodial torture and price rise. CPM is expected to corner the Congress party in the Rahul Mamkoottathil case in the coming days.
