Kerala: 3 southern districts to receive heavy rainfall, yellow alert in 7 for next 2 days

Heavy rainfall of 7 cm to 11 cm in 24 hours is very likely at isolated places in Kerala till November 19, and again on November 22 and 23.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s southern districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning continue in the 3 main south districts following a deep depression formed in the Kanyakumari region.

The IMD issued an Orange Alert in three districts, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha, on Tuesday. These areas are expected to experience rainfall, with thunderstorms and strong surface winds potentially reaching 40 km/h. A Yellow Alert was issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad.

Heavy rainfall of 7 cm to 11 cm in 24 hours is very likely at isolated places in Kerala till November 19, and again on November 22 and 23. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35 kmph to 45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is expected along and off the south Kerala coast on Tuesday.

A yellow alert indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall of 6–11 cm in 24 hours and an orange alert denotes heavy rainfall between 11–20 cm.
